Manyeruke, Zhakata anoint gospel singer
GOSPEL musician, Pastor Widdy Mkwanda, says he owes his breakthrough in music to retired legend singer, Machanic Manyeruke, and veteran lyricist, Bishop Leonard Zhakata.
The 2023 gospel music’s new find has worked with the duo on his wellknit album titled Jesus is Enough.
It carries six tracks, Simuka Iwe Ufambe, Purin Dance, Baba Tikundise, The Truth, Lamentations and I Belong to Jesus.
True to the title, the album will certainly leave one yearning for paradise since it was well done in all departments.
In an interview with H-Metro, Pastor Mkwanda could not hide his elation after successfully working with the duo.
“It was a great opportunity to work with such honoured and great musicians like Baba Machanic Manyeruke and Bishop Leonard Zhakata.
“By God’s grace, l met Baba Mechanic Manyeruke at a gospel function held in Zimre Park. Meeting him for the first time gave me an overwhelming reception.
“As for Bishop Leonard Zhakata, I knew him long back. I respect this great servant of God, he’s a humble and loving person, my mentor, advisor and Pastor,” he said.
Outlining his vision, Pastor Mkwanda reckons God has anointed him to do his job with humility.
“l learned a lot from both musicians which include humility, respect, unwavering support, love, and prayers that cannot be measured by any earthly scientific instruments.
“My vision is to preach and bring people to Christ through music and ministering the word of God.”
In his explanation of the album title Jesus is Enough, he said:
“l gave the album this title meaning in every situation you may encounter, Jesus is the best solution.
“My vision as a musician is to be recognised in this nation and beyond, and to minister the message of restoration, especially to the downtrodden, the discouraged and emotionally wounded.”
Pastor Mkwanda leads a church in Domboshava.
