LUTON NEED MORE BELIEF, SAYS NAKAMBA

- Curtworth Masango

ZIMBABWE captain Marvelous Nakamba believes his English Premier League side, Luton Town, need more self-belief to survive relegation after their narrow loss to champions Manchester City on Sunday.

Nakamba, who was making his return from a knee injury after missing three games, was in the thick of things as they battled it out in the midfield area.

In 16 outings they have only managed to amass nine points with Nakamba missing three matches due to injury.

The Warriors captain feels that they did their best as a team against Manchester City on Sunday just that it was not their day.

“We did our best as a team to take out the positives and focus now on the next match,” he told SuperSport.

“Especially, here at home, with the fans behind us, it is the DNA of the club to let go against anyone by giving our best as a team to get some result.

“Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be but I think as a team, with the fans pushing us at home, we just have to continue playing the same way and try to get some positive results.

“It was a good time for us to get a goal just before half-time and I am happy for the goalscorer Adebayo and the team.”

He added:

“We had avoided conceding in the first half and failed to do so in the second half and conceded two quick goals in 15 minutes but we need to be more positive and keep going.

“As a team, we tried and, speaking to them after the game, they were like you guys should continue doing what you are doing, don’t change and it’s positive hearing from one of the best teams in the world saying that to you.

“We need to stick together more and continue to give our best.”
