SEIZE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, YOUTHS URGED

- H-Metro Reporter

YOUTHS have been urged to make use of business opportunities available in the country to contribute towards economic growth and create employment.

This was revealed by local businessman, Vincent Chawonza, during a business mentorship programme held in Harare.

Chawonza runs the Vincent Chawonza Mentorship programme, which is conducted quarterly, with the aim of concientising young people to venture into entrepreneurship.

Addressing youths of diverse competencies, Chawonza said they have a role to play in economic development.

“Young people should take the lead in economic issues because they are the leaders of tomorrow.

“We need people with mindset of setting up business enterprises.

“There are a lot of opportunities that we can exploit as young people, not just to wait for employment. Let’s create that employment, “said Chawonza.

Chawonza, who runs Open Gold Enterprises, a company that specialises in coach building, believes there are a lot of opportunities in the country’s different sectors.

The Dynamos Football Club vice- chairperson said there is a need for learning institutions to focus more on empowering students with life-long skills.

“We need to continue with programs of this nature to remind ourselves of the potential that we have. I run this programme quarterly because I know that to make it in life, one needs someone who motivates and encourages him or her on a regular basis.

“The programme is now bearing fruit, having mentored a number of individuals who are now thriving in their respective fields.

“We also need to ensure that universities and colleges teach students on that area or engage those who are good at it for public lectures ,” said Chawonza.
