- Nyasha Kada

SOUTH AFRICA-BASED veteran artist and disc jockey, Jah Seed, is set to perform in Harare and Kwekwe this festive season.

The Bongo Maffin co-founder will headline the Unity Day Reggae Madness set for Rockafellas Restaurant & Bar tomorrow.

He is also billed to perform at the Kwekwe Shutdown Bash set for Gulez Gardens in Kwekwe on Christmas eve.

Silent Killer, Etherton Beenie and Garry B are part of the line-up set to perform along with Jah Seed at Rockafellas.

Merciless Zimbabwe, DJ Tecco, DJ Hush, and MC Jibbs are also part of the line-up.

In Kwekwe, he is billed to share the stage with Freeman, Holy Ten, Jah Signal, Uncle Epaton, Daruler, Ndunge Yut and DJ Fydale.

Jah Seed last performed in Harare last year, during the Jacaranda Festival, with the group Bongo Maffin.

“H-Town (Harare) is more than just a place for my fans, it’s home, it’s where everything started.

“My introduction to music and entertainment way back in the 1980s in the streets and ghetto of Mbare. I know the four corners of Mbare on foot from Mbare National to Nenyere Flats

“I am coming through not to connect but to keep the music fire burning and to learn and share from my foundation.

“Fans must expect me to give them what I have learnt over the years and what I learnt yesterday in the business of music that is constantly evolving.

“Thanks to Papa Bear for hunting me down for the shows,” he said.

He also shared his views on the current state of Zimbabwean music.

“Zim music has grown to so many parts of the world where you find Zimbabweans and some are breaking into the international mainstream, which is a positive projectile for our sound created in Zimbabwe.

Show organisers, Simbarashe Befura of Harare and Dj Fydale of Kwekwe, said everything was set for the big events.

“Jah Seed is a stand-out figure since way back then who has been part of that culture and that’s why he will be our headline act.

“We look forward to a great show and calling out everyone to come in numbers,” said Befura.
