Jeys Marabini hails successful year
CROONER Jeys Marabini says he will always cherish 2023 as the year he made a giant stride in his career.
Jeys, who used to perform mainly in Bulawayo, South Africa and overseas, spread his shows to other parts of the country, especially Harare.
“2023 was a very successful year for myself and the band. We have had lots of performances around the country for Government, private functions and the corporate world.
“We have been performing every week, which shows that the brand has grown and people love it.
“One of the major highlights of the year includes performing for the President at the State House.
“I was invited by the President himself to come and perform at his birthday and also at the inauguration dinner.
“We held the ‘Meet the People Tour’, which took us to Harare where we performed in Ruwa.
“We also performed at the Jazz & Soul Festival at Sherwood Golf Club.”
The Bulawayo-based singer believes many doors opened for him this year.
“The uniqueness and tightness of the band made the difference for us.
“We were also invited to perform at both Alliance Francaise Harare and Bulawayo. People now believe that my music is international.”
The singer toured UK last month. “We went to the UK in November where we performed at the World Tourism Markets.
“Afterwards, we held several shows in Sheffield, Cambridge, Peterborough and Nottingham.”
He is now wrapping up the year. “I am going to hold a show on December 30 at Bulawayo Theatre and another performance at MapopoVictoria Falls Festival.
“I urge all my fans to come and enjoy with us as we wrap up a fine year, which took us places.”
“This year alone I got some nominations at the Zimbabwe Music Awards and the Nama awards and even got a Lifetime achievement from a South African radio station.”
