THE GUY WITH THE CAPS UTD SUIT TURNS 42

. . . for Chemhofela, the Green Machine is everything

-

SOME call him the guy with the CAPS United suit — a homemade greenand-white suit which introduced him to a wider audience of followers and admirers.

Others simply call him “Chemhofela.”

His name is Richard Sande and he has transformed himself into one of local sport’s biggest cheerleaders.

Today, the staunch CAPS United, Warriors and Chevrons super fan turns 42.

“I’m grateful to the Lord for this precious gift he has granted me, I can’t ask for more from the Almighty,” he told H-Metro.

“It’s not an easy job that one can wake up and say I want to do.

“After establishing myself, I realised that I needed to be disciplined to be able to reach where I am today.

“I have realised that I am now a role model as a cheerleader, bouncer and unifier.

“It’s a lifestyle, which I have chosen.

“I take cheerleading as a calling from above and I don’t think that without the Lord’s guidance I could be where I am today.”

He added:

“I have presided over the biggest events like the Victoria Carnival, Harare International Carnival and Akon and Sean Paul’s shows.

“I also provided personal security for the late Ginimbi, Thompson Dondo, PanJap boss Brighton Ushendibaba and of course, my sister Mahwindo has also promoted me at her events.”

CAPS United owner, Farai Jere, named him the club’s 2023 Fan of the Year.

He is set to be rewarded this month.

“I had a rare moment to have a photo of me taken with Mr Jere. He has promised me something big and I know, as a gentleman, he will fulfil his promises.

“It’s now 21 years of loyal service to Makepekepe.

“I am also a staunch Warriors supporter. I also support all the other national teams like cricket and rugby.”

He said the H-Metro journalists almost ruined his life.

“I always laugh when I enter this newsroom because Photovet nearly ruined my life.

“He took a picture of me at Pamuzinda in 2010 when a voluptuous woman was shaking her rear at me.

“We appeared as if we were a couple, but I landed myself in hot water.

“I can’t forget this incident because it made me the disciplined man I am today.”
