Corporate lawyer Hare invests in arts

- Maria Chiguvari

CORPORATE lawyer-cum-musician, Panganai Hare, has vowed to empower local artists with his legal expertise.

Better known as Mukoma Panga in music circles, he started as a promoter before he made it as a singer in 2019. His third album, titled Pahushamwari Hwedu, will be released before Easter. He will release a single titled Zvikandwa on January 20.

On his album, he collaborated with Mark Ngwazi, Romeo Gasa, Dispatch, Nicholas Zakaria, Ethel Musonza and Chipoko ChaSauro. “I respect these artists that I have worked with on this album and it is my job to ensure that I also return the favour by giving them legal advice.

“I am their man and they are free to do so and I will help them,” he said.

Mukoma Panga, who was introduced to the music industry by the late Simon Chimbetu, hailed the late singer.

“I started music promotion with the late Chopper (Simon Chimbetu) in Bulawayo.

“Before that, I had given Chopper legal advice and I would like to extend the same gesture to others that I can’t mention for professional reasons,” he said.

He added:

“The title of my third album is inspired by a lot of factors, I have made a lot of friends with a lot of stakeholders in the industry.

“So, the title Pahushamwari Hwedu, is a way of celebrating all my friends in the industry.

“I have made a lot of good friends and I also lost more friends to death during the same time.” He is bullish his album will do well.

“This is a very unique project in that there is something for everyone as I have worked with different musicians.

“The first track on this album, Tadiwanashe, featured Mark Ngwazi and Chipoko ChaSauro.

“My vision is to uplift others in the industry and to be uplifted as well.

“Unity is power and variety is the spice of life, we have experimented with a lot of different instruments to spice up our project.”

Mukoma Panga insists music is a hobby to him. “I am not in competition with anyone and I am not doing music full-time. Music is my passion.” To date, he has three albums to his credit — Mbuva Yehwiza, released in 2019, Pfimbi YeGudo 2021 and his forth-coming album Pahushamwari Hwedu.

He worked with veteran producers Bothwell Nyamhondera and Jabulani Ndlovu on this album.
