- Latwell Nyangu

MULTI-AWARD winning music producer, MacDonald ‘Macdee’ Chidavaenzi, is celebrating his 39th birthday and reflecting on 20 years in the arts industry.

Macdee, who currently resides in Bedford, United Kingdom, is expanding his Eternity Productions brand to Europe.

He says that growing up has taught him that it’s not how hot you are in society, but the number of lives you have actively transformed over your period of existence.

Macdee has been a songwriter, keyboardist, voice tutor, and backing vocalist for many of Zimbabwe’s big artists and churches.

He is also a multi-talented scriptwriter who has produced radio commercials for most Zimbabwean brands.

Throughout his career, Macdee has recorded hit songs and has also groomed producers under his label.

“I love seeing young people excelling, hence my decision to keep Eternity Productions Zimbabwe studio active while we activate the UK chapter of Eternity.

“As is my culture on my birthday, I resolved to release my brand new track Nzwanana (The love story). Nzwanana is the first production done at my new studio and more will be happening from this end as the Harare team advances,” he said.

Macdee, who is the founder and former director of Zimpraise choir, has also been on the adjudicators panel for the Chibuku Road to Fame Nationals in 2018 and 2022.

“At some point I was appointed a member of the NAMA awards adjudication panel under the music department from 2018 to 2023 and Zima Adjudication panelist for 2022.”

Macdee has recorded hit songs like Musikana Akanaka, (Alexio Kawara), Ndinzverei (Bethen Pasinawako Ngolomi), first live band Performance (Sandra Ndebele, Nonsikelelo and Xtra Large), music video Wandodisisa featuring Trinta and Willox, hit album Pfimbi yangu (Alexio Kawara), and first song of the year Tinodanana Alexio Kawara featuring Tererai Mugwadi.

“I have also groomed producers Wisdom Wyzie Nyaparami, Tawanda Tehilah Midzi and Tadiwa Dj Tadex Moroka.”
