HURUNGWE MODEL DREAMS BIG
TWENTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD beauty, Kelly Asani, says she does not regret taking modelling as a profession.
She has vowed to make an impression in pageantry.
Born and raised in Hurungwe, Kelly has vowed to empower other girls in remote areas.
In December last year, she was crowned Miss Funhouse Zimbabwe in Norton.
She has been signed by a modelling agency in Mozambique.
“I signed for an agency called Fancy Africa in Mozambique, which is now running my affairs.
“Last year, I tried my luck when I entered the Miss Funhouse Zimbabwe competition and surprisingly won it,” she said.
Kelly urged the Government to regularise modelling agencies and safeguard models from abuse and exploitation.
“We have a lot of agencies that are substandard and milking the model’s hard-earned cash.
“Models are getting a raw deal from these agencies who are underpaying us.
“This exploitation should come to an end,” she said.
Outlining her vision, she added:
“One of my goals and ambitions is to help the girl child achieve and realise her dreams.
“The girl child must be able to realise their potential and to have growth and development.
“I have seen many of these young people wasting their lives and it is very worrying.
“The government, community and law enforcement agencies must work together to weed out drug and substance abuse.”
Kelly attended Kebvunde Primary School and did her secondary education at Magunje Barracks High School in Hurungwe.
Kelly has always loved modelling since childhood.
She faced a lot of resistance from her parents when she ventured into modelling.
She owes her breakthrough to modelling instructor and business associate, Lewis Nyamakosi, who is also the owner of Guide Mag.
