Thank you Roki for your honesty

-

MUSICIAN Rockford “Roki” Josphats’ confession that he made mistakes in his career should be a lesson for other upcoming artists.

Despite all the fame he had, as he exploded on the scene as one of the hottest artists of his generation locally, Roki has nothing to show for it.

Blessed with that sleek voice, unique song-writing technique and superb choreography, Roki was a chart-topper for years before his fall from grace.

He admitted that he could not handle fame and became a super dad at a young age.

At one point, he was accused of being a deadbeat dad and wife-basher.

Career-wise, his fortunes took a turn for the worse until a number of people, including Prophet Passion Java, came on board to provide him with a rescue package.

The man of the cloth facilitated Roki’s collaboration with Koffi Olomide, Rayvanny and Awilo Longomba, among others.

All these efforts were meant to “jump-start” his career after it emerged he had relocated to his rural home in Seke.

The collaborations were embraced by many of his fans and there was even an expectation that he was on his way back into the light.

That remains to be seen.

But, the good thing is that he has realised his mistakes and doesn’t want other young and talented local musicians to fall into the same trap.

This shows that he has matured and is determined to help others.

What makes his case special is that it is coming from an influencer who once tasted fame.

We should take Roki’s advice seriously as the celebrity still has the potential to recharge his batteries.

In showbiz, a comeback is possible if one remains committed and focused on their job.

The only regret that can affect them for years if they are not strong are the opportunities they blew away.

In life we all make mistakes and what is important is for the people to avoid the recurrence of the same blunders.

Experts say a mistake repeated becomes a decision.

We don’t expect to see Roki making the same mistakes.

Roki is not alone in his situation.

That he has decided to be open about the challenges he faced in his life is refreshing and such honesty is needed for one to find a way to deal with his demons.

Our wish is that more celebrities, who messed up in their careers, could come out and help save others.

There is nothing wrong with top celebrities sharing their problems with others.

It, however, takes strong characters like Roki to share their problems with the public.

Of course, many people will mock him for being reckless but we should forgive him.

Some of the problems he encountered happened because he was still young. It’s hard to handle fame at a young age when one does not have proper handlers.

Handling fame is another problem which celebrities encounter and should not forget when they get famous.

People who make mistakes deserve a second chance in life.
