. . . DRUG DEALERS ROPE IN NIGHTCLUB WAITRESSES

DRUG dealers in Harare are now using waitresses as AGENTS OF DEATH who push their dangerous products to clients at some of the city’s top nightclubs, especially during the weekends, when business is at its peak.

For weeks now, H-Metro has been briefed about how many waitresses have been transformed into couriers who are now the middle women in this trade in illicit drugs, including cocaine.

The drugs include cannabis, skunk, crystal meth (mutoriro), heroin, crack and powder cocaine.

These drugs are usually consumed either in the toilets, at these night clubs, or in cars or the sprawling spaces of the car parks under the convenient cover of darkness.

Some night club bouncers are also part of the cartel and many of them are supplied with drugs by the cartel leaders, which are then passed to the waitresses for sale to the clients.

“Drug pushing is a dangerous thing because there is always a possibility that one can be caught and the consequences are severe,” a source told H-Metro and, of course, chose not to be named.

“Those who push drugs have to always devise other means to try and beat the security wall and system because one bad step might be the difference between sleeping at home and in cells.

“In Harare, and to some extent in Bulawayo but not as pronounced as what is happening here in the capital, there is this network of the drug dealers and some night club bouncers and, it’s important to emphasise here that not all bouncers are involved.

“The bouncers are given the drugs and they then pass these drugs to the waitresses who then identify the clients who buy these drugs in these nightclubs and the wild party starts.”

But why the waitresses?

“In the drug business, one of the most important things is to eliminate suspicion, waitresses are probably the least people authorities would imagine could be couriers pushing these drugs,” said another course.

“The waitresses also know the high rollers, the guys with the cash and who are probably willing to feel higher and go to an imaginary place where alcohol might never take them.

“You should know that this is a dangerous line of work and the advantage with using the waitresses is that they know their clientele and will know that this guy is someone I don’t know and they won’t take the risk because that guy might just be a policeman.

“So, using waitresses is very safe and delivery is also easy because they just bring the drugs together with the orders from the bar, be it lager beers or whiskey, whatever it might be and this doesn’t raise any eyebrows.”

Other sources have been claiming that some of the night club owners might also be involved in this drug supply chain but, “it’s hard to confirm that because they don’t involve themselves in the distribution.”

Drug and substance abuse has become a cause for concern in this country with the Government even coming up with a ministerial committee to deal with the crisis.
