BEAUTY QUEEN TURNS INTO ADVOCATE FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

- Lucia Mazhou

RECENTLY-CROWNED Miss Facial Beauty, Selma Mutenda, wants to leave a lasting impact on society through career guidance and mentorship programmes.

Selma’s first port of call is Binga where she will visit Donga Primary School as she partners with Youthtalk UZ.

“Teaming up with Youthtalk UZ, a youth-focused organisation, I am channelling my passion for empowerment into organising a career day in Binga.

“This event aims to inspire and guide young individuals towards fulfilling and acquiring meaningful career paths.”

She said that the decision to focus on career guidance and mentorship was a refreshing departure from the typical post-pageant pursuits.

“Rather than focusing on personal endeavours, I have chosen to leverage my platform for the greater good.

“Recognising the pivotal role mentorship plays in shaping future leaders, I am determined to contribute to the growth and development of the youth in different communities across Zimbabwe,” said Selma.

Selma is extending a heartfelt call to potential sponsors and partners to join her on this journey of empowerment.

“Organising such impactful events requires financial support and collaboration from sponsors and partners, hence I would like to call upon all those interested to join hands with us as we change the world.

“Contribution to this initiative will give sponsors an opportunity to invest in the future of the community, fostering a generation of skilled and motivated individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to society. My call for support is not just about financial backing, it is an invitation for businesses and organisations to be active participants in the positive transformation of the society.

“Sponsors can play a crucial role in shaping the trajectory of young lives, influencing not only individual destinies but also contributing to the overall development of the economy.”

The career guidance and mentorship programme stands as a testament to the potential synergy between beauty, brains and benevolence.
