KUDA ON HIS WAY TO GAMECOCKS?

- Bruce Chikuni Sports Reporter

ZIMBABWE international, Kudakwashe Mahachi could be on his way to Chicken Inn after he left Ghanaian top-flight

league side, Medeama, only five months into his one-year contract.

While Mahachi’s next move is not yet certain, Chicken Inn are said to be keen on re-engaging him.

Coach Joey Antipas has reportedly expressed interest in bringing him back to the team ahead of the 2024 Premiership season.

Medeama were not satisfied with Mahachi’s match fitness and, although they gave him time, they decided to close the door on him last week.

Mahachi left South African Premiership side, SuperSport United, after a domestic problem that side-lined him for a season.

Apart from SuperSport United, Mahachi also played for Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, Golden Arrows.

He made a total of 153 appearances, scoring 20 goals and providing 19 assists at the various clubs.

Chicken Inn are keen to build a strong squad for the Premiership campaign, which gets underway next month, and Antipas is known for his love for creative midfielders.

Mahachi became the first Zimbabwean footballer to sign for a Ghanaian top-flight league side.

There have been a number of Ghanaians who have featured in the domestic Premiership and one of them, Emmanuel Paga, scored the last goal last season. Paga scored the insurance goal as Dynamos beat Ngezi Platinum Stars 2-0 to win the Chibuku Super Cup at Baobab last month.

George Owusu, another Ghanaian, was part of the DeMbare side which reached the final of the 1998 CAF Champions League.
