GIDZA BOY (15) TO RELEASE NEW EP

- Abel Ndooka

RISING Afro-pop artist, Gilbert “Gidza Boy” Kanzira, says he has a clear plan of how he will juggle between school and music.

Not only is he chasing fame, and probably a little bit of fortune, but he believes he can also leave footprints on the showbiz scene and inspire other teenagers.

Gidza Boy announced his arrival two years ago when he released his debut album Manake, which was an instant hit.

The Form Two student, who is topping the music charts with his sing-along song Need You, is in the studio working on his new EP called Gidza Boy and Friends, which he said will be released in the coming months.

Gidza Boy told H-Metro he is pushing himself to keep working hard so that he can achieve his goals in the tough music industry.

“Being a musician, you have to be motivated to work hard so that you can grow your name and brand so, as for me, I am motivated to work extra hard to be a trailblazer.

“My wish is that one day I will change the music industry to the benefit of all musicians in the country so, for that to happen, I need to keep pushing myself to the limits so that I can achieve that goal.

“We have many musicians in the country and some of them are struggling to enjoy the fruits of their hard work so, one day, I wish to change all that,” he said.

The young musician has managed to work with household names like Mathias Mhere on the song Ziso, Shantel Sithole Amai Vangu, Holy Ten Pangu Ndapedza, and Herman Ndinamatire.

He says he idolises Jah Prayzah and Winky D and hopes one day he will get an opportunity to work with them.

“I admire the work ethics of Jah Prayzah and Winky D, the effort they put into their work to achieve greatness.

“I wish one day to earn an opportunity to work with them so that I can learn one or two things from them,” he said.
