Father poisons son over mother’s hairstyle
A TWO-YEAR-OLD baby is battling for his life after being poisoned by his father following a domestic dispute over his mother’s hairstyle.
Junior Nyamutambo was rushed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital after he was forced to drink maheu mixed with rat poison by his father Tinashe Nyamutambo.
Tinashe had a misunderstanding with his wife, Trish Tsabora, 21, over her hair style.
Trish packed her belongings and went to stay with her parents.
She left the baby with his father.
Tinashe is alleged to have poisoned Junior before disappearing.
Acting Harare provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Faith Mapisa, confirmed the case and appealed for information that may lead to the arrest of Tinashe.
“Police are investigating an attempted murder case involving a minor child,” said Ass-Insp Mapisa.
“Circumstances are that on January 28, and at around 1300 hours, accused was at his place of residence together with his wife.
“The accused told his wife that she was disrespecting him and he wanted to trim her hair since he believed that it was making her misbehave.
“His wife did not consent to the idea of her hair being trimmed and she packed her bags and went to her mother’s house in Garan’anga, Overspill, in Epworth, leaving her son with his father.
“On January 29, at around 1200 hours, the accused took the baby to his mother’s place of residence in Mbare and he left him there.
“The minor kept on crying for his mother uncontrollably and the grandmother decided to take him to Epworth,” said Ass-Insp Mapisa.
