NINE-YEAR-OLD PUBLISHES BOOK

- Bruce Chikuni

HEARTS Christian College student, Kahyile Chitovoro is probably the coolest kid in the country after publishing her book named ‘The Ugly Girl.’

Chitovoro is nine and she is just a Grade Five pupil.

Chitovoro is quickly proving to be a cut from a cloth that makes finest authors.

The book is about kindness, tolerance and encourages people to be always mindful in everything we do as God is watching.

She was helped to publish this book by Aleck Kaposa of the Essence Publishing Company.

Hearts Christian College Vice Principal, Peter Matangira, said Chitovoro was incredibly gifted.

“I’m extremely excited that one of my students, Kahyile, has published a book at the age of nine, it’s amazing and makes her probably one of the youngest published writers in the country.

“It is not my first time working with children who have had their work published, I have worked with some who were into poetry and story writing.

“Quite a number of these works have been published in various magazines and anthologies including one done by UNICEF for Children Rights in the in the 90’s.

“But Kahyile is simply different,” said Matangira.

Matangira said Chitovoro has had a huge impact on her peers who are now yearning to follow her path.

“She is a unique child, very daring and confident.

“Kahyile is creative, hands on and, above all, she is God-fearing, making her different from others.

“Her book has challenged some who are now dreaming to follow her steps and this week is going to be a big one as they are all promising fireworks.”

He added:

“She is passionate about creating stories and writing.

“Her imagination is a marvel, her art depicts the depth of imagination that she holds.”
