Reports of juvenile rape cases disturbing

-

REPORTS of juvenile rape cases being recorded at various schools in Harare are quite shocking.

Urgent attention is needed to weed out bad apples and rehabilitate these youngsters.

Victims of sexual assault should get counselling to heal from all the trauma they encounter at the hands of these juvenile rapists.

It’s quite sickening given it involves pupils as young as 15 and 13.

The wild teens should be busy concentrating on studies and not sex.

These cases have been reported in Warren Park and Budiriro.

There are genuine fears there might be more similar cases, especially in the high density suburbs, where peer pressure is driving our teens to engage in immoral behaviour.

Parents or guardians should be vigilant and firm in dealing with such sensitive cases.

Children should be taught about the dangers of sexual intercourse.

We should urge them and tell them all the virtues of abstaining and waiting for the right time when they reach the age of consent.

If we don’t do that, we risk raising monsters who will be lost along the way.

It’s also sad that we have rapists who are as young as 15.

This emerged from the cases which were reported from two of our schools last week.

We can’t afford to let this abnormal behaviour continue like this.

Such cases are happening at a time when we are fighting drug abuse, which makes it a real concern.

The cases might have occurred as a result of drug abuse since some pupils are now taking drugs.

Some of these kids, indulging in drugs, are in Grade 5, as was revealed by respected medical doctor Johannes Marisa.

Teachers should stamp their authority and ensure that victims of sexual assault open up.

We also expect school heads to protect our kids as they spend more time with our children.

The learning environment should be conducive to our children who should not live under the shadow that they could be attacked by some sex predators.

We have to fight all this as a united nation because if we don’t do it we will have a disaster on our hands.

We should always do our best to protect teen girls from sexual abuse.

Juvenile rape should always be condemned in its strongest possible terms to ensure that our girls are safe from sex predators.

The police should intensify their campaigns against the sexual assault of teen girls.

It’s a campaign which should never be dropped to ensure that we save future generations from sexual abuse.

Our police force has demonstrated its capacity to address such cases.

Our influencers can also help us by spreading the gospel against sexual harassment while it is too early.

Teens should simply focus on their studies and other sporting activities to stay away from such vices.

We must always urge our teens to abstain from sexual activities.
