Crocodile attack victims need our help

-

IT was a scene straight out of a nightmare. A mother and her 13-year-old son were suddenly attacked by a crocodile. Lainah Mazhambe (37) bravely managed to fight off the crocodile and save her son, but not without suffering serious injuries herself.

The attack left her with severe cuts and bruises all over her body, and her son with injuries to his hand and leg.

While the Sanyati woman’s bravery in fighting off the crocodile is commendable, the aftermath of the attack has left her and her son in dire need of help. The medical bills for the treatment of their injuries are overwhelming, and they are unable to afford the necessary treatment.

So far, the medical bill has ballooned to US$1 400 and continues to accrue. They have turned to their community and well-wishers for help, but they have not received enough assistance to cover the cost of the treatment.

As H-Metro, we call upon all of us to come together and support this brave woman and her son in their time of need. The psychological impact of such an attack is hard enough to bear, let alone the physical injuries. These injuries require immediate medical attention, which is beyond the reach of this family’s financial capacity. They need our help to get the treatment they deserve.

The woman was fortunate enough to be able to fight off the crocodile, and we need to be equally fortunate enough to help her and her son overcome the after-effects of the attack. We owe it to them to ensure they get the necessary medical care. We cannot afford to leave these brave warriors fighting this battle alone.

The cost of the treatment is high, and the family is struggling to meet even their basic needs, like food and shelter. The trauma of the attack has also affected their ability to work, adding to their financial burden. They desperately need our help to provide basic amenities as they recover from this horrific ordeal.

As society, we have a responsibility to support each other in times of crisis. We must help this family get back on their feet and overcome the physical and emotional pain caused by this attack. Our support can help them rebuild their lives and give them hope for a brighter tomorrow.

We, therefore, urge all individuals, organisations, and businesses to come forward and support this family. Even a small contribution can make a significant difference in their lives. Let us unite and extend a helping hand to this family in their time of need.

We must also work towards preventing such attacks from happening to other families in our community. This should serve as a wake-up call for the authorities to ensure the safety of individuals living near crocodile-infested areas. Proper warning signs, fencing, and other safety measures must be taken to prevent such attacks from occurring in the future.

We cannot afford to turn a blind eye to this family’s plight. We must come together and provide support to this brave woman and her son. Let us do everything within our power to provide hope and healing to this family as they continue to fight this battle. Their survival is a testament to their courage and resilience, and it is time for us to show our support and solidarity.
