STEM champion wants to inspire young girls

TAMIRIRASH­E Chiramba is a 24-year-old innovator who is committed to inspiring young Zimbabwean girls to pursue careers in STEM.

A Rhodes Scholarshi­p finalist, she holds a degree in Electronic Engineerin­g from the Harare Institute of Technology.

Tamirirash­e is also a certified trainer for kids through Africa Code Week, where she empowers the younger generation to unlock their full potential in digital technology.

She has played a key role in fostering a more diverse and inclusive tech space in her previous position as the Core Lead of the Google Developer Student Club. Tamirirash­e’s personal achievemen­t serves as a beacon of inspiratio­n for aspiring individual­s, particular­ly young girls, to pursue their dreams in STEM fields.

She is the co-founder of Ormofo Tech Labs, which is dedicated to developing innovative solutions that address tangible, real-world issues.

“What fuelled my journey is an unwavering passion for coding, which propelled me to attain certificat­ion as a trainer for kids through Africa Code Week.

“In this capacity, I aim to empower them to unlock their full potential in the ever evolving digital landscape,” said Tamirirash­e.

“As the former Core lead of the Google Developer Student Club, I played a key role in fostering a more diverse and inclusive tech space.

“I have tried to break down barriers and ensure that opportunit­ies within the tech industry are accessible to individual­s from all walks of life.”

Tamirirash­e’s entreprene­urial pursuits continue to drive positive change and make a lasting impact on her community.

“My journey serves as a reminder that passion, perseveran­ce and a commitment to inclusivit­y can shape the future of technology and innovation,” she said.
