DYNAMOS TAKE PRE-SEASON PREPS TO NORTON

- Bruce Chikuni

NORTON is likely to explode when ZIFA Northern Region Division One heavyweights MWOS FC host Dynamos at Ngoni tomorrow.

Both sides expect to use the friendly match to gauge their state of preparedness ahead of the 2024 campaign.

DeMbare are seeking to end their lengthy championship drought this campaign.

MWOS have assembled a decent squad, which many feel will win a topflight ticket with ease.

They are under the guidance of former Dynamos player and coach Lloyd Mutasa, who has led three different teams into the Premiership.

Mutasa’s son, Wisdom, is now at MWOS together with Peace Makaha and assistant coach, Joseph “Shabba” Tangaringofa, who were all once at Dynamos.

Mutasa told Zimpapers Sports that this fixture will serve as a reminder of what can be expected next season if they win the Northern Region Division One title marathon this season.

“This match means a lot to our fans and everyone in Norton because it means if we can win the league this season, they will host more big teams in PSL next season.

“I’m sure this match, regardless of the result, is going to motivate the players and fans to push to the limits in playing their roles for this team to win the championship. “We are expecting a good match and it’s also going to be a reality check for us because we have roped in good players who I trust will do the job for us,” said Mutasa.

He said playing Dynamos is a motivation on its own.

“I know what it means to play against Dynamos for every player. They have a huge following and it gives these players the zeal to express themselves.

“I’m not going to spend time highlighting the significance of this match to them, but I will focus more on preparing them physically.

“It’s going to be a good game for anyone who loves football, and I want to urge our fans to come in their numbers to see what we have been preparing,” he said.

MWOS have made their intentions known after signing 10 players in the window period.

They acquired Evidence Tendai, Kith Chikotora, Ashford Nyamajiwa, Aristotle Manyamba, Tafadzwa George, Nigel Matina, Gamu Chikengezha, Brighton Majamanda, Edson Gavara and Innocent Masiwa.

Mutasa also hailed the team’s president, Patrick Tamson, for being supportive of his ideas.

Dynamos were also on the road last week and pipped GreenFuel 1-0 in Chisumbanje.

Midfielder, Donald Mudadi, scored a beauty after Issa Sadiki provided the assist.
