Dream took me to CAPS: Chiwunga
LOT Chiwunga says that he joined CAPS United following a dream in which he travelled on a green bus, which he interpreted as a divine sign to play for the club.
Chiwunga, an ardent Christian, said he had asked God which team he should join and listed all the teams that had approached him.
In the dream, he said he was a passenger on a green bus and this led him to CAPS United.
There are, however, also green buses for GreenFuel and Simba Bhora in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, but the colour is traditionally associated with CAPS United, who are affectionately referred to as the Green Machine.
Chiwunga, who was a sought-after player due to his performances for Black Rhinos last season, said he was excited to work under coach Lloyd Chitembwe, whom he claimed had already taught him a lot.
In an interview with Zimpapers Television Network (ZTN), Chiwunga said:
“I believe in Christ as many do, but I went to church and I asked God which team I must go to,” he said.
“I presented all the teams that were after me and I was given CAPS United.
“Also in my dream, I was in a green bus and I knew it was a fulfilment for me to be here and that’s why I am here.”
“Working with Coach Chitembwe has made me learn a lot during this short brief with the club.
“I know most people say he is a difficult man to work under, but as a player you should accept challenges and even criticism.
“For a player to grow, you have to accept criticism because if you are not told where you are lacking, it will be difficult for you to improve.
“In these few months, I have improved and I am proud to be here.
“I guess if I had worked with coach Chitembwe from a tender age, maybe I would be somewhere, but I want to thank God that I am here and working under him now.
“Here the team creates a lot of chances and I have high expectations.
“With my fellow strikers, I know we are going to score a lot of goals. I think I will show you on the field of play,” he said.
