Let’s avoid crimes of passion

-

WHEN we are betrayed by the people who are close to us, it’s very hard to take and accept.

Many people can do anything as they seek revenge in the heat of the moment.

In most cases, it has led to anger issues and depression.

In worst case scenarios, it can lead to loss of life, especially when the wronged party reacts angrily.

This was what lead to the death of a Gweru woman at the weekend.

She was stabbed to death by a knife when the her lover’s wife returned from an all-night prayer meeting and found the two sleeping in her bedroom.

It was clear that the wronged woman felt betrayed by her husband, who had the guts to have sex with another person in their matrimonial bedroom.

Now, the wife faces the possibility of being sent to jail while the girlfriend is now late.

The husband will forever rue his decision to bring his lover into his bedroom given the tragedy which was triggered by his foolish move.

There was no justification whatsoever for him to bring his girlfriend into his bedroom.

He knew the consequences of his actions but took a foolish gamble, which backfired horribly.

In fact, he is lucky to be alive because, according to the police, he was the first target of the attack but he managed to repel it and fled from the bedroom.

His lover was not so lucky and was stabbed four times.

While emotions are hard to contain, we always urge people to avoid crimes of passion.

Violence is not always the best solution, even if one has been betrayed.

In this case, a life could have been saved had the wife controlled her emotions.

With all the evidence she had gathered, upon her return, it was proper for the wife to take a step backwards and consider her options.

Such options could have included her filing for divorce from her husband.

She could also have considered legal action against the girlfriend.

She had all the evidence at her disposal.

Now, we are mourning the loss of a life and her life has changed forever.

She is a religious woman, as seen by her devotion to all-night prayers and she should have considered forgiving those who wronged her.

We know it’s very difficult but it’s possible.

She could have turned to her faith in God and asked the Lord to help her, in her moment of weakness, and guide her to do the right things.

She would not have considered murder as a way of resolving this issue.

Violence is not always the answer when people feel betrayed.

People should always resort to dialogue to try and address whatever issue which could be confronting them.

We should learn to respect the sanctity of life.

The Gweru death is also a lesson to lustful men who cannot control their feelings.

Men should always learn to control their feelings and stop betraying their spouses.
