MAGAYA PRAISED FOR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE CLEAN WATER TO SEKE COMMUNITY

- Arron Nyamayaro

PROPHET Walter Magaya has been praised for his efforts to provide clean water to the Seke community through his private company, Wistmer Investments.

Magaya drilled boreholes in the Seke communal lands and handed them over to the Minister of Agriculture, Lands and Rural Settlement, Anxious Masuka.

The Minister said that Magaya’s efforts complemented the Government’s attempts to fight cholera and typhoid by providing clean water.

“We are here to fulfil President Mnangagwa’s vision of not leaving anyone behind in development,” said Minister Masuka.

“President Mnangagwa introduced devolution and, with that, he is expecting everyone to benefit, create employment and get jobs within their communities.

“The drilling of boreholes through Wistmer Investments will see a number of villagers being employed to well organised gardens.

“The gardens will be managed by students within that community with the best educational qualifications.

“They will not grow crops of their choice but will be guided by the Agricultural Rural Development Authority (ARDA).”

He added:

“Gone are the days when villagers spent time by the roadside as vendors, searching for a market.

“A market for every crop will be ready and villagers will open accounts to receive salaries for working in the gardens.

“Government has partnered with Wistmer Investments, through Prophet Magaya, and we thank him for complementing efforts in eradicating poverty and provide health through clean water and nutritional foods to the nation.”

Magaya said:

“We are after smart cities where diseases like cholera and typhoid must not be found.

“Wistmer Investments is also going to draw water from Wenimbi Dam to Prince Edward Dam to end the Chitungwiza water crisis.

“Every house will have clean water from their taps and no longer queue at boreholes.”

The event was attended by villagers, school heads, Chief Seke, ZINWA officials, Manyame Rural District Council and senior Government officials.
