Rogue Gutu dad should be punished

THE heartless Gutu man, who took his 23-year-old daughter in as his second wife, is a very wicked man.

After sexually assaulting his daughter for over a decade, the man has riled fellow villagers in Gutu, with his shameless act of taking her in as his second wife.

They now want him to be arrested.

It’s quite bizarre that a sane man can take his daughter for a wife.

Whatever drove the ex-convict to abuse his daughter defies logic and his fellow villagers in Gutu are right in calling for authorities to intervene.

Our readers are also equally shocked by this man’s weird behaviour.

This incestuous relationship has made him an evil man with no respect and shame.

He has shown that he is capable of doing anything and he doesn’t care what others think about him.

After all, this is the same man who has served a prison sentence for raping his daughter when she was just 14 and in Grade Seven.

He claims his fellow villagers just want to drag him back into jail and they are coming with all these stories to get him arrested again.

His wife appears powerless in all this and neighbours told us of the hell she is going through.

We talked to her and we could see the horror she is dealing with.

She knows that what her husband is doing is wrong but she doesn’t have the power to stop him.

What is clear is that the 23-yearold woman has suffered a lot at the hands of her father.

Real fathers should protect their children against all forms of abuse.

We don’t want to continue reading these sickening stories.

Traditional leaders, who are known for guarding our culture, should probe such cases and bring culprits to book.

We want this Gutu matter to be investigated thoroughly.

The police should stamp their authority and investigate this case.

They should interview all the villagers, who have knowledge of this case, and they will compile all the evidence they need.

We know it won’t be easy because the woman who is being abused cannot tell her story but we have specialists in this country who can generate a lot of evidence from using sign language.

What we are only asking for to be done is action and a thorough investigation.

The unrepentant ex-convict should face the music if he is found on the wrong side of the law.

We can’t afford to let evil dads prey on their kids for rituals and other stuff.

This case comes at a time when cases of child rape and sexual assault are on the increase.

We expect fathers to be responsible in this fight by protecting their daughters.

We can’t win it when the fathers become the pepetrators of sexual abuse, as is the case with the Gutu father.

Let’s protect the girl-child and report such cases to the police.
