‘FELI NANDI A RISING STAR’
SONGSTRESS Feli Nandi’s manager has attributed her rapid success to their strong teamwork.
Connie Mazani said the two had built respect, trust and good communication in all their work.
Feli Nandi won the Outstanding Female Musician gong at the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) in Bulawayo on Saturday night. It was her first NAMA.
Connie said their journey in music was about breaking barriers and providing a platform for women to shine in a male-dominated industry.
Their story started a few years ago when Feli Nandi was just Connie’s fashion designer.
Feli Nandi’s song Ndobatirira narrates her manager’s love experience.
“The song Ndobatirira was about my own experience and most of her music is about her life experiences, like the song Mubayei, she was betrayed by a friend.
“Good communication helps us build a strong relationship and avoid misunderstandings between us. We’re friends before music.
“Working together as a team has been very fundamental to our success. We believe that mutual respect and trust are key to building a successful career. This has enabled us to create music that resonates with our audience and to perform with passion and commitment.
“As her manager, my job is to help Feli grow as an artist and develop her career. I am one of those people who pushed her into music.
“She was my fashion designer and we had a close relationship that made me understand her vision. That also allows me to support her emotionally and professionally, helping her develop the skills needed, and guiding her towards her goals.
“Feli has a unique talent that deserves to be recognised. We are working hard to ensure that she continues to grow and develop as an artist. We are excited about the future and we look forward to sharing Feli’s music with the world,” said Connie.
Feli Nandi and her band held a successful show in partnership with Gateway Stream Media at the Harare International Conference Centre on Friday night.
