DEAL WITH COUNTERFEIT WIZARDS
THE proliferation of backyard beauty products firms producing counterfeit Satiskin foam bath in Mbare and the surrounding areas is quite sickening.
How people are now gambling with other people’s health is not only shocking but criminal and worrisome.
Last Friday, the police came to the assistance of a health, hygiene and beauty products manufacturer — Medtech Holdings — after raiding the crooks in Mbare.
MedTech Holdings felt shortchanged by the bogus firms whose products had flooded the market.
This was unfair to MedTech Holdings who have done a lot to build their name in this industry.
After raiding the crooks, following a tip-off, staff at MedTech urged their loyal customers to be clear when buying their products.
The staff urged consumers to guard against mismatched lids, incorrect aroma and damaged packaging.
The biggest tip was for consumers to monitor skin reactions.
These are the critical signs that one would have purchased fake Satiskin foam bath.
It was also noted that fake toothpaste, beverages, and chemicals have flooded the market.
For some time now we have been seeing some fake whiskeys flood our market which also pose a serious danger to the health of the consumers.
We have also seen fake United States dollars also flooding the market with the con artists going all out to use their powers of deception to trick consumers.
Now, we have this influx of counterfeit Satiskin foam bath products.
It’s hard to distinguish between the original and counterfeit products as the crooks are doing their best to copy MedTech Holdings.
Consumers should not put their lives at risk by buying counterfeit foam bath products from dubious people who do not care about the health of consumers.
The police should conduct more raids and save people from skin cancers or diseases that are likely to be caused by the use of these counterfeit products.
Dermatologists should also be consulted widely to ascertain the authenticity of some skin products that we use daily.
A health time bomb is likely to hit Zimbabwe if we don’t bust these firms selling counterfeit products as was the case with the Mbare crooks.
Most of these products are usually sold at night in busy areas like Copacabana, Construction House parking area, and the Market Square area.
The traders of counterfeit products charge less than what is demanded by the genuine traders.
Counterfeit dealers’ low prices usually attract more people as they go for cheaper products, a big risk to their health and well-being.
This should not be allowed and efforts should be made to protect the genuine manufacturers who pay tax and supply the market with the correct product.
Counterfeit dealers should be heavily fined and have their equipment destroyed.
The city fathers must also act to bring to book these crooks who have put the consumers’ lives at risk.
Consumers need protection all the time.
