I LOVE THIS CLUB, NYONI TELLS REDS

- Sports Reporter

TREY Nyoni had a simple message after winning his first piece of silverware in England on Sunday with Liverpool: I LOVE THIS CLUB.

The 16-year-old Zimbabwean posted his love for the reds, who won the Carabao Cup, after beating Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley.

Outgoing Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp believes Nyoni will soon get a chance to play for the English Premiership giants.

Nyoni was an unused substitute on Sunday.

Speaking after the match, Klopp said he was happy with the development of the Liverpool Academy players who have been promoted to the first team.

“…the development of Bobby Clark... that’s really crazy I have to say. The development of James McConnell is absolutely insane, and Jayden Danns has only recently joined us in firstteam training.

“I loved him from the first second; really special. And he comes on today, OK he played in the last game, but he can score two goals in a Carabao Cup final. It’s absolutely insane,” said Klopp. He added:

“And the other kids out there which we could obviously have brought on as well. (Lewis) Koumas and Trey (Nyoni) and stuff like this.

“Some we left at home, Kaide (Gordon), so it’s just nice to partner these boys in these moments.

“To be the first one, not the last one obviously, but the first one who wants it. The way that the experienced group involves them is pretty special, pretty special.”

Nyoni signed for Liverpool from Leicester City in September 2023 and started his Academy life with the Reds’ U18s and netted a dramatic, stoppage-time winner in the mini-derby against Everton.

He spent 10 years at Leicester’s academy before the Reds swooped to sign him. Efforts have been to get Nyoni to play for the Zimbabwe senior national team, the Warriors although he has featured for the England Under-16s.
