BOSSO, MWOS BATTLE BACK ON TRACK

- Sports Reporter

A WEEK after a last-minute cancellation of their match, Highlanders are set to travel to Norton to face ambitious ZIFA Northern Region Division One side MWOS for a friendly tomorrow.

It will be the last competitive friendly for Bosso ahead of the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League opener against Dynamos at Barbourfields on March 10.

The friendly match against MWOS was originally set for last weekend.

However, the match was cancelled after authorities rightly decided that allowing it to go ahead would provide a counter attraction to the season-opening Castle Challenge Cup.

The Challenge Cup featured league champions Ngezi Platinum and Chibuku Super Cup holders Dynamos.

The PSL leaders felt having a counter attraction, in the same province, would be an insult to their sponsors.

Bosso coach Kelvin Kaindu was at Baobab and watched Dynamos in action.

MWOS have already played CAPS United and Dynamos at their home at Ngoni in Norton.

Lloyd Mutasa and his men are targeting a place in the Premiership this year.

They are the club with the best funding in the league and the message from their sponsors has been very clear: IT’S THE LEAGUE AND NOTHING ELSE.

The club’s leaders have been questioning how a team like Chegutu Pirates, who do not have the financial muscle which MWOS have, could find a way to win a ticket into the topflight league ahead of their club.

Bosso were not heavily involved in the transfer window but secured the signature of Calvin Chigonero, who was with the club last season on loan, from Talen Vision.
