Jah Prayzah, DJ Black Coffee deserve their success

-

JAH Prayzah’s rags-to-riches tale reads like South African counterpart DJ Black Coffee’s journey.

Plucked from Uzumba, the superstar earned his fame and fortune the way DJ Black Coffee also did with the later starting from the very bottom in Umlazi, South Africa.

Jah Prayzah is now a household name after his massive breakthrough.

Like Black Coffee, who now has an estimated net worth of US$60 million, his fairytale resembles a dream.

DJ Black Coffee proved to critics and the doubters that dreams can come true if we remain focused and determined.

He is now rubbing shoulders with the planet’s most sought-after entertainers.

He even can dine with the likes of P. Diddy, who are heavyweights in the music industry.

You now need, at least, US$300 000 just to book DJ Black Coffee who now plays gigs in such places like Ibiza and the iconic Madison Square Garden.

Jah Prayzah hasn’t reached those heights yet but there is no doubt that he is on the right path to greatness.

His brand has exploded and he is now well known around the continent.

He is probably the biggest brand, when it comes to musical acts, in this country.

And, what impresses us the most if that all this hasn’t come easy.

He has had to work for it from the very first day, when he was a schoolboy in Kambuzuma, when he decided he wanted to become an artist.

We expect to see this kind of progress and growth among other local creatives.

It’s never too late for our creatives to copy from this template.

Professionalism, hard work and creativity have made Jah Prayzah and DJ Black Coffee the artists they are today.

Creatives should engage professional managers who share the same vision with them to excel.

Successful brands are a result of hard work and teamwork where goals and objectives are set out.

After setting the goals and objectives, hard work and creativity make everything achievable.

This is the only path DJ Black Coffee took as he now celebrates 30 years in the game.

The same can be said of Jah Prayzah who is almost approaching two decades as a professional musician.

For Jah Prayzah, it was not only about years in the game but the creative edge and his hunger for success, which has made him one of Zimbabwe’s top earners with an estimated net worth of US$2 million.

For a Zimbabwean creative below the age of 40, this is not bad for the talented performer.

He has gone out of his way and collaborated with some of the global giants like Jah Cure and African superstars — Davido, Diamond Platnumz and Mafikizolo, among others.

He never shied from learning from the best and now he rules the roosts on home turf.

This is the kind of spirit we want to see being implemented by local creatives.

Local acts can easily learn from those who started at the bottom and make it big in life.
