A STAR-STUDDED PARTY IS COMING TO MURAMBINDA

- Trust Khosa

ONE of the best Zimbabwean songs of alltime is a love story of a man who charmed a beautiful woman in Murambinda.

Paul Mpofu’s hit song cast the spotlight on Murambinda Growth Point.

Now, the musical party is coming to Murambinda with a star-studded line-up of some of the country’s finest musicians descending on the growth point in Buhera.

They are coming for this year’s Independence Day celebrations on April 18.

Suluman Chimbetu, Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria and Sandra Ndebele are set to headline the gala.

Chief Hwenje of the Mai Welly fame, DJ Fantan, Shantel Sithole, Diana Samkange, Andy Muridzo, Agatha Murudzwa, Mathias Mhere, Bigboy Motsi, Tambaoga, Takura, Simon Mutambi, Bio Mudimba and Mark Ngwazi are part of the bill.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Ministry’s principal director, Lennex Mandipaza, told H-Metro:

“The celebrations will be held in Murambinda on the 18th of April in line with the Government’s mantra on decentralisation of national events and leaving no one behind.

“The line-up for the gala has been released although there are possible additions before the day.

“It’s going to be a huge celebration in Murambinda.”

Mbira artist Mangwenya, who is part of the star-studded line-up, could not hide her elation.

“I’m promising the fans a magical mbira experience on the 18th of April in Murambinda,” she said.

“The inclusion of female artists is something which I respect highly.

“It is an honour to be picked among so many of our female musicians. It will also be my first time performing in Murambinda.

“I just expect a great gala, this is an important Zimbabwean holiday so I expect good energy from everyone who will be present.”

Similar sentiments were echoed by Chief Hwenje.

“I can only promise fans new songs and some refreshing stuff from my camp, especially the addition of a Congolese guy in our set-up,” he said.

“I last performed in Murambinda last year in December.

“I can only promise fans a day to remember, I just love performing at such big events of national significance to us.”

Last year’s edition of the Independence Day celebrations was held in Mt Darwin, Mashonaland Central.
