BOSSO PRAISE OUTGOING CEO

HIGHLANDERS have praised outgoing chief executive, Ronald Roland Moyo, who has just left the club — just one month into the new season.

Moyo chose not to renew his contact with the Premiership’s oldest club.

“The Highlanders Football Club executive committee takes this opportunity to convey to its members, supporters and stakeholders that the club’s chief executive officer, Ronald Roland Moyo, has elected not to renew his contract at its expiration due on the 31st of March 2024.

“The club is profusely thankful and grateful for the commitment that Moyo exhibited during his tenure, firstly as the media officer, and presently in the role of CEO.

“(His) contribution to the club’s endeavours towards continuous development will always be cherished.”

Coach Kelvin Kaindu says complacency is bound to be their biggest enemy ahead of their derby match against Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields on Sunday.

Last weekend, Kaindu guided his charges to a hard-fought 2-1 home triumph over their biggest rivals, Dynamos.

“After our last game we were concerned that a few players picked up knocks but all of them have since returned to the team.

“They have been training with the team from the first day we started. “The Dynamos game is gone,” said Kaindu. He added:

“Derby matches are difficult, Bulawayo Chiefs are a very dangerous side because they have been watching our matches and the players are familiar to each other.

“We are happy that we will play the match at Barbourfields Stadium, a ground that we are familiar with.

“Although, we will not enjoy a few privileges because we will be playing away from home, we know that our fans will come in numbers to support us.”

Bulawayo Chiefs, who are under the guidance of Thulani Sibanda, are smarting from a 2-1 away defeat they suffered at the hands of Greenfuel.

Bosso, Simba Bhora, Hwange, Chicken Inn, FC Platinum and Greenfuel managed to collect maximum points with two games ending as draws.

Manica Diamonds, Yadah Stars, CAPS United, Bulawayo Chiefs and Chegutu Pirates all fell by the wayside in the Match Day One fixtures.

Simba Bhora, who beat Manica Diamonds being the biggest scorers as they found the back of the net three times.

Five clubs Arenel Movers, Ngezi Platinum Stars, CAPS United and Chegutu Pirates failed to score.
