SHARRIF MUSSA THE X-FACTOR AS PSL CLOSES ON A RETURN TO HARARE
PREMIER Soccer League chairman, Farai Jere, says Sharrif Mussa’s passion has been a key factor in getting the top-flight league football closer to a return to the capital.
Mussa is the leader of the ZIFA First Instance Body, the association’s arm which is responsible for clearing stadiums to host the domestic Premiership matches.
The capital’s clubs have once again been forced to play their home matches away from home because of the unavailability of stadiums certified to host such matches.
The Heart Stadium in Waterfalls is expected to host PSL matches but reports claim Yadah Stars want to play in their stadium first before other clubs can be invited to use the stadium.
The Miracle Boys’s first two fixtures, against Hwange and newboys Bikita Minerals, have both been scheduled for them to play away from home and they will only play their first home match in the third round of the programme.
A lot, of focus has been on Rufaro where a lot of work has been done by the Harare City Council to bring it into a state where it can host top-flight league matches.
Jere, who owns CAPS United, has seen his team play their first two matches in Gweru and Kariba even though their latest encounter was an all-Harare affair against Herentals.
“I think it is important that we acknowledge and salute the work being done by Sharrif Mussa and his team at the FIB, we have seen the progress and commitment, which we have not been seeing in the past,” said Jere.
“Sharrif is a passionate man and he carries that passion in everything he does and we are lucky to have him in football because he is an honest and hardworking man.
“This is a man who has been going to Rufaro, every time he gets a chance, including twice a day at times, just to monitor the progress and work with the people doing the renovations to ensure there is speed in some areas.
“He is a hand-on man and we should ensure that, as a football community, we don’t lose people like Sharrif because the value they being to our game is priceless and his leadership qualities have been there for everyone to see.
“He has a good support team and Francis Mabika is an honest and hardworking man who has served our football for a long time and you can see that he is really determined to ensure that we deal with this issue of stadiums.”
