LET’S LOVE OUR COUNTRY, MADZIBABA TELLS NATION

- Trust Khosa

MADZIBABA Nicholas Zakaria has urged young people to be patriotic and hard-working as they hold the keys to the future of this country.

He says the Independence Day celebrations are a time for reflection.

The sungura godfather is one of the top performers at this year’s Independence Music Fiesta set for Murambinda Growth Point on April 18.

He is set to headline the event alongside Suluman Chimbetu, DJ Fantan and Mark Ngwazi.

“As an elder, I urge young people to love their country because it is theirs.

“No matter what we are going through, it should not come to a point where we end up speaking ill about our nation.

“I also urge young people to be innovative and start self-help projects and continue working hard,” he said.

He added:

“We are celebrating this holiday at a time when we are facing numerous challenges like drug and substance abuse.

“I am calling upon the law enforcement agents to step up their campaigns and bring to book the people who are selling these drugs.

“To be honest, it’s sad as we continue to lose many lives.”

Madzibaba Zakariah is a veteran lyricist, choreographer and vocalist.

“My message to the people attending the Uhuru bash, and those watching from home, is that they must expect fireworks.

“We hardly disappoint at national events of this magnitude and we promise a night to remember.

“People watching from home will not miss anything as we are set to give them a show of a lifetime.”

Bio Mudimba of the Kujatajata fame, Sandra Ndebele, Last “Tambaoga” Chiangwa, Chief Hwenje, Shantel Sithole, Diana Samkange, Argatha Murudzwa, Mathias Mhere, Bigboy Motsi, Takura and Simon Mutambi are all part of the line-up.

Last year’s edition of the Uhuru celebrations took place in Mt Darwin, Mashonaland Central.
