. . . Club statement triggers furious backlash
IT was meant to be a statement in which Dynamos would clear the air and dismiss any suggestions that the club were trying to lure former vice-chairman, Vincent Chawonza, back into the fold.
The statement also accused Chawonza of allegedly causing alarm and despondency at the club.
“The board world like to distance itself from the purported post-disengament overtures from the club as the club took a position to relieve Mr Vincent Chawonza of any duties at the club as he was fast turning into a liability to the club formed in 1963,” reads the statement.
The club accused Chawonza of a failure to obeserve basic tenents of sports management and corporate governance “through reckless statements in the print and electronic media.”
But, the statement triggered a severe backlash when it was posted on the club’s Facebook page with the majority of those who responded, instead, blasting the team’s leadership.
