BOSSO REJECTED ME AND IT HURTS, SAYS KANGWA
BRUCE Kangwa says he was hurt by Highlanders’ failure to accommodate him when he was released by Tanzanian club, Azam FC.
Kangwa (35), parted ways with Azam last year after captaining the club for several years.
He is now on the books of CAPS United. “It was my wish to always come back home. Highlanders were my team for many years. It was at this great club that I managed to make a name for myself.
“As such, soon after parting ways with Azam, I was willing to rejoin Highlanders. It’s unfortunate Bosso leaders dragged their feet at a time I was also willing to forgo my signing-on fees.
“I also even contemplated joining Chicken Inn but nothing materialised. This was before CAPS United moved swiftly to table an offer,” said Kangwa.
He joined Azam FC in 2016 and quickly became a key player, primarily as a leftback.
He was named the club’s captain in 2020.
In his seven year stay at Azam FC, Kangwa made over 300 appearances.
He played alongside Prince Dube and midfielder Never Tigere.
Dube wants to leave Azam amid revelations that Simba SC and Sudan’s Al Hilal are keen on his services.
Tigere recently joined champions Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Azam have admitted to receiving offers from Simba SC and Al Hilal.
Dube tied himself to Azam FC until 2026 having received a signing-on fee of US$150 000 recently.
There is a US$300 000 release clause in his contract.
“The contract he signed at the end of last season puts him at the club until 2026,” said the club’s head of information and communication, Thabiti Zakaria.
