Mdlongwa burial today

- BY SILAS NKALA

THE late opposition MDC founding executive Esaph Mdlongwa, who succumbed to COVID-19 on Wednesday, is set to be buried today at Luveve cemetery in Bulawayo.

Former MDC Bulawayo senator Rita Ndlovu yesterday said only close family members would be allowed to attend the funeral wake and burial in line with COVID-19 containment measures.

“I talked to some family members who advised me that only relatives would be allowed to gather for the funeral wake, but they said the burial is set for Saturday (today) at Luveve Cemetery,” Ndlovu said.

Mdlongwa, who was 73, was the opposition party’s first national organising secretary in 1999 and also served as Pumula-Luveve MP.

He was father of popular South Africanbased musician Oskido and spent the better part of his working life in trade unionism before he joined mainstream politics.
