IN response to Government increases passport fees, GERALD MAGEDHI says: Do passport applicants have to be punished for the incompetence of the coup regime? That is a bad way of running a business. So why can’t the government formalise the use of United States dollars in every transaction rather than piecemeal dollarisation? That the government decided to charge passport fees in the greenback is testimony that it has also lost confidence in the local currency.

IN response to ED, Sadc leaders in crucial Moza indaba, WONDER KATIVHU says: Sadc and the African Union are useless regional organisations, what have they been doing since 2017 when the insurgents struck Cabo Delgado province in Mozambique? These two blocs have failed to stamp their authority on regional hotspots and Mozambique is the latest. Terrorists are causing havoc in Mozambique and Sadc and AU are acting as if it is business as usual.

In response to Violence breaks out as MDC Alliance activist sentenced, WONDER KATIVHU says: The Zanu PF government is doing all in its power to silence the opposition. It is a shame that abductors, looters and murderers are roaming the streets of Harare freely, yet someone who protested against police brutality was jailed.

IN response to Doctors express concern over low COVID-19 vaccine uptake, OWEN MPOFU says: There hasn’t been enough information dissemination on the COVID-19 vaccine. The closest we have been to demand creation are propaganda jingles equivalent to Rambai makashinga. What we need is proper messages, demystifying myths and misconceptions. Right now, it is not clear who the priority groups are. The majority of the people still think the vaccine is only available for healthcare workers.

In response to Man commits suicide at in-laws’ homestead, RAS TONDERAI MAURUKA says: Never ever give your heart to a human being and never laugh when someone is hurt to the extent of committing suicide over relationship issues. These are mental health issues which are sadly ignored in Africa. The human mind can be one’s worst enemy if pushed to the limit. May his soul rest in peace.
