Lewandowski running again but ...

BAYERN Munich have been handed a boost as top goalscorer Robert Lewandowski was seen doing some light running during an individual session — but he won’t be fit enough to face Paris Saint-Germain tonight in the team’s pivotal Champions League quarter-final second leg.

The 32-year-old picked up his injury in a World Cup qualifier for Poland against Andorra at the end of last month, straining a ligament in his right knee, and this is the first time he has trained at the team’s Sabener Strasse training ground since, as fitness coach Simon Martinello put him through his paces in the snowy conditions.

Lewandowski, who has 42 goals in 36 club games this season, is set to be out for around two more weeks, with his first option to return for Hansi Flick’s men likely to be against Bayer Leverkusen on April 20 or at Mainz four days later, according to BILD.

Bayern Munich have an uphill battle in their quarter-final second leg against PSG in the Champions League.

Bayern have certainly missed the presence of the 2020 Best FIFA Men’s Player in recent games as they had 31 shots to PSG’s six in the first leg — and managed to lose 3-2.
