IN response to UN envoy flies into Zanu PF, MDC Alliance war, MAI RURU says: It is mind-boggling that the government is wasting taxpayers’ money to fund United Nations special rapporteur Alena Douhan’s visit to Zimbabwe to assess the impact of sanctions on the country. While it is an open secret that sanctions are ruinous; they affect the ordinary person, it is the Zanu PF government which invited them. It is easy for sanctions to be removed. It only takes the Zanu PF government to play ball. If President Emmerson Mnangagwa's administration changes the way it treats citizens, sanctions will be removed. Sanctions will be removed if Zimbabwe fully implements the 2013 Constitution. The reforms demanded by the international community are provided for in the supreme law of the land. There is also need for the government to reform and respect the laws of the land.

RUVIMBO says: Given the way the government is shredding the Constitution, it is an open secret that the UN rapporteur's coming to Zimbabwe is no cause for celebration. Yes, she will come up with a report, but if the ruling Zanu PF party does not reform, sanctions will remain in place for the foreseeable future. All that Zanu PF needs to do is to fulfil its 2018 electoral promises, implement political reforms, refrain from corruption, murder and electoral fraud.

MAININI says: Our rulers have perfected the art of creating sideshows and these days they are on overdrive blaming sanctions for the crisis bedevilling Zimbabwe. The day they start dealing with looters, we will be halfway into solving our problems as a country. Let us deal with what we can change: corruption, nepotism, smuggling, upholding property rights, rule of law and aligning our laws to the Constitution.

IN response to Chamisa takes campaign to Manicaland, MUSA HOPE says: It is not proper that MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa is holding rallies at a time when COVID-19 restrictions are still in place. The relaxation of these measures do not necessarily mean we have won the war against the virulent disease. Zanu PF is equally guilty of disregarding the COVID-19 containment measures. We should not lower our guard for political expediency.
