IN response to COVID-19 scare in schools, DUMISANI NDLOVU says: Why is it that Zimbabwean authorities blame South Africa everytime COVID-19 hits us? The schools are open and businesses are operating as usual. So why do we have to blame South Africa after all? If they want to impose new COVID-19 lockdown measures so that they can control the political temperature, they should do so quietly. They must let our kids learn without disturbances.

IN response to ’Corporal punishment must remain banned’, BENARD MAHEMU says: The teachers are missing the point, it seems as if they do not understand that corporal punishment is the best disciplinary tool. They must learn from South Africa — learners talk about rights when they have knives in their pockets, threatening to kill anyone who hit them even if they mistreat other learners at school.

IN response to ‘Ban on bank lending null and void’, CHIEF GATO says: President Emmerson Mnangagwa has stooped so low such that he is doing the duties of Finance minister Mthuli Ncube and Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor John Mangudya. We are now back in the 2008 era where almost everything went off the rails. Mnangagwa must put in place measures which benefit everybody, not the political elites. We have never heard of a country that bans lending by banks. These are desperate measures by a government desperate to remain in power.

IN response to Cabinet tightens screws on Zesa vandalism, TAREVA SHUNGU says: Our country is being run using statutory instruments, and this has proved beyond reasonable doubt that it does not work. Cabinet must create a conducive environment which will open up the industries so that the populace gets jobs.

IN response to PSMAS under forensic audit, CHIEF HANDIRA says: This is a good move taken by Health and Child Care minister Constantino Chiwenga to investigate Premier Service Medical Aid Society and it should not just end there. We need to see people being arrested.

IN response to Lulu under spotlight, SIR MATSHAKHO says: It is unfortunate that Highlanders Football Club is not patient with Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu who is on a rebuilding exercise after a two-year break because of COVID-19-induced lockdown restrictions. They can hire any coach even from Mars but no positive results will come because players need to gel.
