Mushekwi still banging in goals in China

- — Kick Off

NYASHA Mushekwi has yet again sent reminders about his scoring abilities at Chinese Super League club Zhejiang Greentown despite the club's poor start to the new season.

Zhejiang remain bottom of the standings in the Chinese Super League club with five points from the opening eight games, but Mushekwi hasn't stopped scoring.

In game number eight of the season over the weekend against Qingdao Hainiu, Mushekwi struck a brace to push his tally for the season so far to three.

Trailing by two goals at the break, the former Mamelodi Sundowns striker struck twice within three minutes before the hour mark to level the scores.

The first was a typical poacher's goal struck from inside the box with his left.

Moments later it was vintage Mushekwi as he met a delivery with his head after rising above his marker to finish another cross from Ivorian attacker Jean Evrad Kouassi.

Zhejiang have won only one game from eight this season with Mushekwi scoring three of the five goals scored by the club.

The club's struggles have come as a surprise considering that they finished third last season on their way to booking a ticket to the Asian Champions League qualifiers with Mushekwi smashing 18 goals.

Mushekwi turns 36 in August but has kept the goals flowing.

Through his time at Zhejiang, Mushekwi has risen to become the all-time top scorer after overtaking fellow former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Dino Ndlovu.

Mushekwi scored 23 goals in the 2021 season as Zhejiang won promotion and since leaving his homeland to play in the PSL (2010/11) at Sundowns, he has been on double figures on nine occasions playing in South Africa, Sweden, and China.
