LOCAL privately-owned fastfood outlet, Mambos Chicken celebrated its sixth anniversary on Valentine’s Day, reflecting on a transformative journey characterised by several hurdles.

Mambo’s Chicken account executive Isheunesu Tsiga told NewsDay Life & Style that they have managed to navigate a bumpy road that involved insults, threats and bullying from so-called industry gurus.

“Were there attempts (of bullying), yes, several. Did we feel it, No!” he said.

“What we have made sure we do is to stick to our mantra, by the way we tell our patrons that we make you eat, feel, dine like a king; so we focus on the aspect of making sure that our service delivery is exceptional.”

Mambo’s Chicken business development manager Tendayi Zisengwe added that they came into the business setting standards, which challenged many established players.

“Talking about the standards, we talk about the ambience that we brought in with our restaurant, the customer experience itself. It was something which some people in the industry ended up introspecting over just to make sure they stayed relevant after the coming in of our organisation,” he said.

Mambo’s Chicken has an ambitious expansion plan that includes opening more branches in underserved areas to take their flavours to more communities.

“Over the past six years, Mambo’s Chicken has become synonymous with culinary excellence and innovative customer service. Our journey from a single outlet at corner Park Street and Kwame Nkrumah in Harare to a household name in Zimbabwe is a testament to our commitment to quality, our dedication to customer satisfaction and our relentless pursuit of excellence,” he said.

As part of celebrating its sixth milestone, the fastfood outlet is running anniversary specials on exclusive menu items that will be discounted until February 28. It has also embarked on a number of projects like the Mambo’s Dance Competition in which dancers showcase their talents.
