IN response to We’re starving, govt workers cry, EMANUEL MATHUTHU says: I feel sorry for the government workers.

NKOSILATHI THEMBELANI MBELE says: The effects of austerity measures are kicking in.

IN response to Masvingo evictions spill into courts, VANDERBAY SIBANDA says: During last year’s harmonised elections, I saw Zimbabwe Electoral Commission polling stations set up in those illegal settlements. Why did they use votes from illegal places?

IN response to Our central hospitals cry for serious attention, PIKIRAYI says: The politicians have never cared about the health of the ordinary citizens. They can afford flying out to get better healthcare, while we have to contend with the ill-equipped institutions.

IN response to Zipra ups ante on 100 seized properties, NKULULEKO SHALA DUBE says: Zipra should forget about it. Zanu PF will never hand over those properties to Nitram.

IN response to Council warns land developers, KNOWLEDGE KADZURA says: How does that happen? Is it not that the process of land development is commenced by the local authority first, by availing such land and the local authority making checks and balances before approving every stage of development to the land. The warning sounds as if any developer can just develop any piece of land.

IN response to Harare regularises 17K housing units, JONATHAN

JAVANGWE says: Local authorities must first accept that they are doing a shoddy job. They own the land, but they slept on the wheel and allowed land barons to sell land illegally. The biggest beneficiaries are some council employees.

TENMORE CHIWANGA says: It ceases to make sense when the council does not provide the services. First of all, the council should have serviced the stands, which it never did, provide water, construct roads, collect rubbish and provide recreational parks. We used to have free council libraries, but not anymore. I even wonder why we pay rates and taxes. For what? If you ask the young people, the only thing they know about council is that they arrest vendors, nothing else. So why should the council be paid when there is no service delivery?

TICHAONA KANKUNI CANCOOLNIE says: It actually makes sense to pay the rates and taxes to council. It’s normal that every household and business does that for councils to function.
