Delta renews PSL sponsorship

- BY MUNYARADZI MADZOKERE

DELTA Beverages has renewed its sponsorship of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) after unveiling a new three-year sponsorship deal worth US$3,39 million.

The new sponsorship package was unveiled yesterday at Mandel Training Centre in Harare.

Of the total sponsorship US$2,265 million is for the league, while US$1,125 million will go towards the Chibuku Super Cup.

The previous deal, signed in 2021, expired at the end of last season and this new development comes barely a week before the start of the new football season.

Expressing his gratitude, PSL chairperson Farai Jere said: “Today is a momentous occasion as we gather to celebrate not just the renewal of a sponsorship, but the continuation of a remarkable journey that intertwines the spirit of competition with the passion for the beautiful game.

“Renewing this partnership is a testament to the shared vision we hold — a vision that goes beyond the pitch. It is a commitment to excellence, a dedication to the development of football and a belief in the power of sport to inspire and unite.

“To Delta Beverages, I express my deepest gratitude for your continued trust and confidence in the Premier Soccer League. Your decision to renew this partnership not only speaks to the success we have achieved together, but also sets the stage for even greater accomplishments in the years to come.”

Delta Beverages marketing director Irimayi Muzorewa said: “Year after year our sponsorship gives us unique opportunity to intersect our loyal beer consumers with an activity they and the nation loves. This allows our brands to enter rooms and start conversations.

“It connects people from different backgrounds and creates any moments where many a Castle Lager glasses will be raised in celebration of good times. That for us show the opportunities we can leverage through the power of sport which makes our investments worthwhile.

“It is in this regard that I would like to announce our total sponsorship commitment to the tune of US$3 390 000. This amount will be for the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League and the Chibuku Super Cup but it excludes other activities that we support.”

The league season roars to life tomorrow with the Castle Challenge Cup pitting league champions Ngezi Platinum Stars against Chibuku Super Cup winners Dynamos at Baobab Stadium.

Next week will see the commencement of the league race.
