IN response to Mthuli 2024 budget up in flames, ARTFUL CAESAR says: I stopped defending Finance minister Mthuli Ncube a long time ago. Bond paper is not money, period!

IN response to 9 die in bus accident, CHETU SMART says: What makes it most sad is that there are no painkillers at Beitbridge District Hospital, where the injured were taken to. Yet we find President Emmerson Mnangagwa dishing out off-road vehicles to chiefs.

ABISHA DAMBA says: Bad driving has become so entrenched in us and the responsible authorities need to urgently curb this vice. I have always maintained that even if we build roads with say four lanes going in one direction, accidents such as these will still happen. I do not know what it will take the police to tame the recklessness on our roads

GONZO MABHONZO says: When government lays down the law, it should enforce it. I remember they said all buses should be fixed with speed limiters, but to my surprise, the buses are still speeding. The other day I went to Zambia, there is this local bus which I boarded, I would never want a similar experience.

NYASHA CHIKOORE says: As long as the driving culture/mindset does not change, we will continue to see these accidents happening. Law enforcement agents are not serious as well. They are not proactive, only reactive. Companies must also do live speed tracking of these buses, and punish drivers if they are caught speeding. There is so much technology these days to track and minimise irresponsible behaviour by drivers.

JORAM MASHAKADA says: I spoke to one of my colleagues who was in the other bus, Blue Circle, and he said their bus hit a donkey and the lights switched off while the bus was moving. The glitch was due to an electrical fault. Unfortunately, there was a City Bus which was coming from the opposite direction and their bus encroached into the oncoming traffic lane in the darkness, which resulted in the head-on collision.
