RENOWNED sungura musician Nicholas “Madzibaba” Zakaria (pictured) has continued to be honoured for his exploits and contribution to the local music industry.

The Sungura godfather on Wednesday received designer suits, shoes and casual wear from Unique Gear Fashions, a local leading fashion house as his 68th birthday gift and appreciation of his achievements.

The Khiama Boys frontman also received a cake as part of celebrating his life.

The gesture by Unique Gear Fashions comes at a time when Madzibaba is still celebrating a top-ofthe-range vehicle gift he received from business mogul Wicknell Chivayo who has been on a spending spree in honour of musicians across genres.

Unique Gear Fashions founder and managing director Anyway Masunda said Madzibaba Zakaria had been exemplary with his quality music and well-meaning compositions that have helped to shape society over generations.

“As an indigenous enterprise, we are happy to celebrate one of Zimbabwean music’s founding fathers Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria who recently turned 68. Very few in our generation can live up to 68. The best way to honour a man is to do so in his time and we are proud to associate with his brand in this way,” Masunda said.

“Equally encouraging is his selflessness, consistency and character both on and off stage, an attribute which we believe today’s generation should emulate. We are, therefore, proud to dress Madzibaba from head to toe with our designer suits and other extras so that he looks the part when he attends key national events and other usual music performances.”

She continued: Madzibaba has helped to nurture some of the big names in local music earning him the title Senior Lecturer and we are encouraged by his strength of character and humility. As he celebrates all those milestones, we are happy to also join in these festivities by honouring him in our own small way.”

“Apart from selling a range of clothes, as Unique Gear Fashions we also offer image consultancy to individuals, corporates and the who is who of Zimbabwe all aimed at ensuring that they dress well and look the part for all occasions.”

In his acceptance speech, Madzibaba thanked Unique Gear Fashions for the gesture.

“I am humbled and honoured to receive such a thoughtful gesture from a company that not only excels in the fashion industry, but also believes in giving back to its community,” he said.

“This act of kindness demonstrates Unique Gear Fashions’ commitment to supporting individuals and causes that are close to their hearts. I am truly touched by their generosity and their belief in my work and endeavours.”
