Sponsors queue up at Northern Region D1

- BY SPORTS REPORTER

THE Zifa Northern Region Division One League has clinched another sponsorship deal with LM Auctioneers coming in to fund individual prizes for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

The auctioneers will sponsor the Player of the Month Award as well as the Player of the Years gong.

Each month, the most outstanding player will receive a cash prize of US$200 while the Player of the Year will walk away with US$1 000, the biggest individual prize money on the local scene.

The first runner in the Player of the Year will get US$600 while the second runner up is set to receive US$400.

LM Auctioneers hopes to spread their wings in the most popular sport in the country.

The two parties signed a deal in Harare yesterday as the Northern Region Division 1 continues to attract sponsors due to their professionalism.

LM Auctioneers director Luis Muzhara said that they were charmed by the professionalism exhibited by the Northern Region and decided to partner them.

"As LM Auctioneers, we have set ourselves to come to the Northern Region Division 1 Soccer League to sponsor them in 2024 and 2025. So we have a two year sponsorship deal that we have agreed with them. The reason why I am doing this as a company and as an individual, is because of my passion for football.

So we just thought we need to assist these youngsters so that we take them off the streets and inspire them to push themselves and produce their best. We said let's just come in and assist the Northern Region because I have seen some positive changes in the way they conduct their business over the years. I admired how they were operating over the last five years so I decided that let's just be part of it," he said.

The company is not new to football sponsorship having been involved mainly with women's soccer.

It sponsors Chapungu's women side and also run a tournament every year.

Northern Region chairperson Martin Kweza praised LM Auctioneers for their kind gesture.

LM Auctioneers will also sponsor a monthly round up of the league.

"We are doing what we are good at, which is managing our football. We want to give LM Auctioneers the best deal. You will not regret it and you will get value for your money. We want to thank LM Auctioneers for this kind gesture. This will go a long way to motivate our players to aim higher and compete for these individual prizes," he said.

The Northern Region Division One has since seen two rounds of matches with table toppers Harare City, Black Mambas, Scotland FC and Herentals Under 20, the only teams to have maintained a perfect record.
