Mixing gospel with alcohol

SOCIETAL expectations don’t stray far from binding Christianity morals and the ways of the world. Undeterred one gospel artiste is defying odds as he spends the day marketing alcohol, a move that most people would advocate against.

Christianed Innocent Rushizha (26) affectionately known as Innoe Rush, launching his debut gospel album titled Sungano Yenyasha, said that he has never viewed his career as a marketing agent as an obstacle to his passion for gospel music.

“At first people didn’t understand if I was a true believer since I deal with alcohol until they saw how I minister through gospel music. Besides my job gives me funds to record quality gospel music,” said Rushizha.

After graduating from Midlands State University with a degree in marketing, Rushizha traces his singing talent from a younger age, which recently manifested in a gospel album.

“I started singing gospel at a tender age of six at Sunday school and I was part of the school choir from primary up to university were I recently graduated,” he said.

Rushizha added that his career ironical has a positive impact to his gospel music.

“My church mates knew me before I worked with beer and they know my character beyond my career as Mr Gold Blend as they call me in the market,” he said.

Like many Zimbabweans Rushizha added that he draws his inspiration from the iconic musicians like Oliver Mtukudzi, Diva Mafunga, Jah Prayzah and Takesure Zama.

He added that he believes in prosperity gospel as it is a message countering poverty in society.
