Tricky Div One derby in Vic Falls

- Tobias Mandoreba in Hwange

A SUPER charged atmosphere is expected at Chinotimba Stadium this afternoon as Nafaz Southern Region Division One League pacesetters Amagagasi lock horns with a resurgent Victoria Falls Tigers in an explosive derby set to attract a huge crowd.

Amagagasi sights are set on joining the nation’s elite league next year while Tigers who have now won two matches on the trot will seek to spoil the party for their fierce rivals and continue with the steady rise up the log. Amagagasi coach Zibonele Ncube was optimistic of a win.

“I am positive we will get all points but it will be tough as derbies are tricky. I have players like top goal scorer Nhlanhla Ndlovu, Arthur Musiyiwa, Darlington Tshabalala, Mutsa Gwara and Lungile Nyathi and my lads are willing to die for the team in the field of play,’’ said Ncube.

“It’s too early to talk of being champions, we are aiming for a top four finish and winning the league will be a bonus for the hardworking boys.”

His opposite number Mehluli Moyo declared war on their adversaries.

“We are obviously on a rich vein of form having beaten Talen Vision and Makomo before this weekend’s cliffhanger tie that will certainly bring the town to a standstill. We have young players who are willing to impress on a big stage so that they market themselves. We also boast of experienced players in defence stalwart Oscar Chove, Godknows Sibanda, Shephered Gadzikwa and Carlos Dube,” said Moyo apparently brimming with confidence.

Chove once tasted Premiership football action having played for former elite league outfit Tripple B in Beitbridge.

Amagagasi have 22 points from eight games while Tigers now have nine points with two games in hand. Tigers will also travel to Hwange on Wednesday for a date with unpredictable ZRP Hwange.
