Former cop rapes maid at knife point

AN ex-police officer allegedly raped and impregnated his maid at knife point in a community hall while his two-year-old child was watching.

The 30-year-old, who is now employed as a security guard appeared before Plumtree Magistrate Mr Gideon Ruvetsa facing rape charges. He was remanded in custody to 28 July.

The accused was stationed at Figtree Police Station but was dismissed because of misconduct. Prosecuting, Mrs Rose Sibanda said he committed the offence on 8 June.

He said the accused ordered his maid to accompany him to clean a house which he had secured for accommodation near Dingumuzi Community Hall.

The woman took his two-year-old child with her as she had been left in her custody.

The accused, the court heard led his maid to an unlocked room inside Dingumuzi Community Hall where he ordered her to put his two-year-old baby on the floor and produced a knife.

He then raped the maid once in the child’s presence and warned her against reporting the matter. She said the woman, however, reported the matter to Chirape’s wife resulting in his arrest.

In another incident, a 32-year-old Bulilima man lured his neighbour’s threeyear-old daughter with a packet of jiggies and went on to rape her. Samora Munkuli of Jutshume area appeared on initial remand before the same magistrate facing rape charges.

He was remanded in custody to 21 July. Prosecuting, Ms Jane Phiri said Munkuli met the three-year-old when she was on her way home.

“On 22 June Munkuli met his neighbour’s three-year-old daughter near Mbimba Primary School. He enticed her with a packet of jiggies which he had bought from the local shops. He then lured her into a bushy area where he raped her once and warned her against reporting the matter,” said Phiri.

She said the three-year-old child then proceeded home where she reported the matter to her mother resulting in Munkuli’s arrest.
